What's in it for you if you become a member of the Suffolk Repair Shed?

As with a makerspace there will be regular gatherings, and there’ll be access at any time for your own projects. Like a Men’s Shed there’ll be a significant element of sociability (ie tea and cake). But it will be combined with the genuinely rewarding activity of saving items from the tip while working with others. If you don’t have your own shed or workspace then this is a great place to come to to work in. If you do have your own space, then it is likely that there’ll be a wider range of tools and skills to help your projects.

Membership fees will be set at a modest level, and can be offset against repair donations.

The Repair Shed is in Martlesham. What’s there at the moment?

  • Workshops, work benches, cubicles

  • General hand tools

  • Woodworking tools

  • Metalwork tools inc fabrication and machining

  • Digital tools – 3d printing and scanning, CAD

  • Fabric & leatherwork tools

We will be adding electrical and electronic tools in the near future.

Plus there is the all-important tea & coffee making facility – bring your own Hobnobs…

More detailed Terms & Conditions can be found here. They may look a bit off-putting, but it’s actually only applied common sense for grown-ups.
