INTRODUCTION

Suffolk Repair Shed Ltd operates a space at Unit 15 Martlesham Creek, Sandy Lane, Woodbridge IP12 4SD (‘shed).

We offer memberships for use of the shed, including equipment and machinery.

This document sets out the terms and conditions that apply to anyone accessing the shed.

  1. You understand that by:

    1. becoming a member of Suffolk Repair Shed Ltd;

    2. using the shed (‘shed’ being the space and Suffolk Repair Shed Ltd facilities, studios, workshops, equipment or machinery); or

    3. participating in Repair Sessions (‘Repair Sessions being any periods of time where a number of members meet with the primary aim of undertaking repair work in the shed),

you agree to these terms and conditions.

As a member of Suffolk Repair Shed Ltd which is a company limited by Guarantee, your liability should the company cease to trade will be a maximum of £1.00.

LIABILITY WAIVER

  1. Any use of the shed or participation in Repair Sessions, including any use of machinery and equipment, is at your own risk.

  2. You must read all signs and follow all directions given by us or people authorised by us.

  3. You acknowledge the risk warning set out below.

  4. Suffolk Repair Shed Ltd excludes all liability to you to the maximum extent permitted by law, including for negligence and whether the loss or damage has occurred to person or property. Where that liability cannot be excluded, we limit our liability to you to the maximum extent permitted by law.

  5. Without limiting the provisions of paragraph above, we are not responsible for:

    1. any damage, loss or theft incurred to personal property and/or equipment that you bring into the shed, or generate/create in any area of the shed; or

    2. any bodily injuries or damages that you may sustain as a result of:

    3. participating in any Repair Sessions; or

    4. using the shed, including any machinery or equipment.

RISK WARNING

THERE ARE RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH USE OF THE SHED AND PARTICULARLY USE OF EQUIPMENT AND MACHINERY. THIS INCLUDES RISK OF PHYSICAL HARM OR PERSONAL INJURY INCLUDING PERMANENT DISABILITY AND/OR DEATH. ANY SUCH INJURY CAN RESULT NOT ONLY FROM YOUR ACTIONS BUT FROM THE ACTION, OMISSION OR NEGLIGENCE OF OTHERS.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. You must not use the shed, including any equipment or machinery, or attend Repair Sessions if you are under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs and must not bring alcohol or illegal drugs into the shed under any circumstances. A breach of this requirement will result in your removal from the shed and may result in cancellation of your membership.

  2. Alcohol may only be consumed in the shed as part of an event held or approved in writing by us.

  3. You must complete all required courses, training, inductions or other approvals before using equipment or machinery made available in the shed and comply with all relevant user requirements.

  4. You must use appropriate protective equipment when using the shed and attending Repair Sessions, including when using equipment or machinery. This may include appropriate footwear, clothing, gloves, goggles or hearing protection, among other things.

  5. You understand that all storage of personal property, either brought in from outside or created at the shed or in Repair Sessions, is your exclusive responsibility, and that said storage is subject to approval by us at our absolute discretion.

  6. You acknowledge that we retain the right to revoke membership and admission to the shed at any time at our absolute discretion and with no refund.

  7. All terms of membership and specific Repair Session information form part of these terms and conditions.

PHOTO RELEASE

  1. By using the shed or attending Repair Sessions, you consent to Suffolk Repair Shed Ltd having full and unrestricted publishing and use rights over any photographs (digital or print) taken in the shed by us or on our behalf in which your image or any of your materials or art, either brought in or created/generated in the shed, appears.

  2. You hereby release, discharge, and agree to hold us harmless from any liability by virtue of any blurring, distortion, alteration, optical illusion, or use in composite form whether intentional or otherwise, that may occur or be produced in the taking of said picture or in any subsequent processing thereof, as well as any publication thereof, including without limitation any claims for libel or invasion of privacy.

MEMBERSHIP

The Suffolk Repair Shed Ltd workshop shed and facilities (shed) is available for anyone to use simply by becoming a member of Suffolk Repair Shed Ltd.

There are a few membership options available

  • Individual Membership: pay a monthly fee that gives you general access to the shed during operating hours.

  • Pro Membership: pay a monthly fee that gives you general access to the shed during operating hours and your own personal bench (with lockable storage)

  • Drop-in Guest: Daily fee.

Please see the website or come to the shed to pick up an application form for prices on all membership options.

Monthly Fees are automatically renewed every month. You can cancel at any time, giving at least 5 days notice before the next calendar month via email to hello@suffolkrepairshed.org. If you do not give at least 5 days notice, you may be billed for one additional and final month.

Annual Fees: if you pay upfront for 12 months you will receive 6-8 weeks free. This is non-refundable. You will be invoiced prior to the 12 month period ending to discuss the following year’s arrangements.

General Use by Members for their own projects, or repair work undertaken individually.

  • Members are entitled to use of shared workspaces, equipment and machinery in the shed, pending safety approval by management.

  • Equipment may be booked in advance to ensure availability.

  • Booking is available online through the Suffolk Repair Shed Ltd website.

  • After hours access to the Space can be made available on advance request and at the sole discretion of Suffolk Repair Shed Ltd. It is not advisable to be working alone in the shed if avoidable, particularly outside normal working hours.

Member Guidelines

  • All Members must comply with these guidelines, facility use requirements, terms and conditions and any other policies, procedures or guidelines in place from time to time. These requirements are in place to ensure fair and safe access to the shed for all Members.

  • Failure to abide by these requirements may result in termination of membership by staff. It may also, or in the alternative, result in the Member being held responsible for replacement cost and labour cost of any damaged Suffolk Repair Shed Ltd property.

  • In order to access the shed, all Members must first complete an introductory assessment.

  • All Members must agree to and sign the terms and conditions of use, including the liability waiver.
 Use of the shed is taken to be agreement to the terms and conditions of use and acceptance of the liability waiver.

  • Specific certification is required for use of certain equipment and machinery as noted on the inventory. Members will not be entitled to use such equipment and machinery until the training is completed.

  • Members must sign in at the office on arrival and sign out on departure.

  • All users of the shed are responsible for their own safety. Suffolk Repair Shed Ltd will not be held liable or responsible for any injury sustained by using the shed.

  • All areas of the shed must be kept orderly and neat.

  • If you are using shed equipment of any sort, they must be operated with proper care.

  • All work spaces, equipment and machinery are provided on an as-is basis. Suffolk Repair Shed Ltd does not warrant or guarantee the state of any shared, complimentary equipment provided.

  • All equipment, machinery and work spaces you use must be returned to the very same state they were found in, or better.

  • Suffolk Repair Shed Ltd will use reasonable endeavours to maintain equipment and machinery in working order. If at any time you notice any equipment or machinery is not functioning properly, please advise a Director.

  • All material deliveries must be accepted by the person that ordered those materials. Suffolk Repair Shed Ltd will not accept any material or other deliveries for Members.

  • Reclaimed wood is only to be used in the shed after it has been made free of metal using a metal detector. If a Member fails to remove all metal from wood, and the metal damages any Suffolk Repair Shed Ltd blades or machines, the Member will be liable for all costs (replacement and labour) associated with fixing the blade or machine.

  • Under no circumstances can a Member store any items in the shed without receiving prior consent from us.

  • All materials and projects in the shed must be clearly and legibly labelled with all of the following: full name, phone number and move date. All non or partially labelled projects/materials may be removed from the premises.

  • Suffolk Repair Shed Ltd is not responsible for any damage to projects or material stored or used in the shed.

  • Members may purchase assistant passes. Passes must be purchased prior to the assistant accessing the shed and the Member must be present for the entirety of the time that the assistant is in the shed. The assistant pass is ONLY to be used by someone who:

    • has read and signed the terms and conditions, including the liability waiver; and

    • is in the shed to help you (for example a spare pair of hands to hold a big sheet of timber). An assistant cannot use tools, equipment, machinery or work spaces in addition to the Member.

Using the shed during Repair Sessions

  • A schedule of Repair Sessions will be listed on the website.


  • Repair Sessions will receive priority on all tools and equipment in the shed. 


  • If you are on a deadline with your own project, please speak with the Repair Session co-ordinator. We want you to finish your project and have the Repair Session be a success.

Age Verification

The Suffolk Repair Shed Ltd Membership is currently limited to patrons over 18 years of age. To be approved for membership you must provide one (1) piece of official photo identification, such as a driver’s license, Proof of Age or a passport to confirm identity and age. By signing up for membership you agree that you are at least 18 years of age, and agree to provide any necessary identification to Suffolk Repair Shed Ltd upon request.
